Team Spotlight on Kit Furderer, Creative Manager
Creative Manager Kit Furderer has a positive and magnetic energy that highlights the core of our team dynamic. As a creative, Kit has an eye for what looks good, but most of all, he appreciates how it feels to do good. To represent Holo Holo stylistically is something Kit does not take lightly, despite his incredible talent of doing it so well. As an avid surfer and outdoorsman, Holo Holo’s sustainability pledge resonates deeply with him.
With over 20 years of professional design experience, Kit was a creative director for a clothing company before moving to Kauaʻi 12 years ago. “I love creating unique designs that tell a story and help transform the world around them,” he explained, “I like designing clothing that people have a memory attached to.” Since Holo is in the business of making memories, Kit’s approach to design is a great match. Because all of Holo’s designs are created in-house and on island, Holo Holo Charters is certified as Kauaʻi Made. Kauaʻi Made is the official program of the County of Kauaʻi to identify and promote products made on Kauaʻi, by Kauaʻi people and are authentic to Kauaʻi. All Holo materials use local printer Inky Pop as well, keeping our business locally sourced to support Kauaʻi’s economy.
Kit earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA ) from Kennesaw State University with a focus on life drawing, oil painting, photography, printmaking, web design, marketing and illustration – whew! He moved on to design over 1,000 logos, build over 500 websites, and design and illustrate over 1,000 shirts and hats in his career to date. A bit of a nomad since birth, Kit was born in Ohio but moved to Georgia at a very young age. He has since lived in seven different states! After meeting his (now) wife in Wilmington, North Carolina and establishing an instant connection, he relocated to Kauaʻi with nothing but his surfboards and the love of his life. Now a father of two, new design projects and managing a work/life balance is at the forefront for Kit. “Family, surfing, hiking, snorkeling and nature inspire me the most,” he mused, “it helps me recharge and feel creative when I’m active in nature.”
With a newly remodeled retail space and more changes on the horizon, Kit is looking forward to further improvements and the future at Holo. “My favorite part about designing for Holo is seeing all our employees and guests wearing the products I help create,” he said, “it brings a smile to my face seeing our employees choose my designs as their daily uniform.”
Mahalo for all you do, Kit!
